I’ve often found that there are instant online cash generation systems promoted which are really just a re-hash of the overall setting up your own website model. This really does by-pass all of that. Technical Skills For Internet Marketing There is something that really can deter many people who need to make an on line income through internet marketing. A question that I am often asked is ‘What technical skills will I need?’.

It’s fair to say that there are some methods of internet marketing that can involve some rather extreme levels of technical knowledge. And there are many people attempting online sales that can become far too involved in pointless technicalities.

As it happens, I have a background in IT so I have found it an easy process. However, let me be quite clear here:

You do not need a high technical ability to be a great success in online sales and internet marketing.

Yes these skills may be helpful now and then, and of course you’d certainly be learning more as time goes by. But at the outset it is perfectly possible to start an online business with just the levels of computer knowledge that enabled you to find your way to my blog in the first place!

So whatever you do, don’t be deterred by thoughts that you have to be some sort of computer geek to make it all work for you.

One of the main problems many face in getting started are the huge amounts of information out there (including this!) and knowing where to start with it all. If you have no previous experience, how you decide what would work best for you? Especially when many websites, articles and blog posts are peppered with jargon that means nothing to you.

I guess that’s one of the main reasons I wanted to start this blog. Even with my prior technical skills, when I started in Internet Marketing I was as bewildered by it all as you may be right now. Over the last few years I have sifted through literally thousands of pieces of information – some of it completely contradictory. And I have spent countless hundreds of hours on it.

There are just two rules to Internet Marketing:

There is no “magic button” for internet marketing, and
There is no “magic button” for internet marketing!

Now that does not mean you have to have great IT skills, it just means there WILL be work to do. I covered that in detail in my last post. Click here to review that post.

Along the way I made plenty of mistakes, but do I now have a few reliable and easy to manage systems in place that simply work. Some are more technical than others, but one in particular brings in regular income with next to no technical knowledge required. So I would recommend that method as a great starting point for brand new internet marketers. I think I’ll make that the subject of my next post, to try to get you started as quickly and easily as possible.

Making Money On Line A lot of the people I meet socially tend to ask many questions about how I earn money on line. They are also frequently interested in the sort of amounts I make, although I am not about to reveal that to anyone! I don’t live a flashy lifestyle even though my success would allow me to if I wanted. In fact in the past I have been much more ostentatious with my wealth when I had so little free time to enjoy it. This Ferrari was my pride and joy for many years. However, the true cost was far higher than the actual cash I paid out to get my name on the log book!

The main thing that earning an online living provides is far more precious than the goods and services that I could indulge in. There are 2 intangible, but very precious things it buys:

Time
Freedom.

I can do what I want when I want, safe in the knowledge that I don’t have to leave my front door in the morning rush hour every day! And I can choose what I do at any given time without answering to any boss.

The First Thing To Learn About Internet Marketing

The phrase ‘Internet Marketing’ (IM) is just a generic term for the vast range of methods that people use to earn money online. It’s not really important at the outset what path you choose, though. The single most important thing you must accept before starting out to make a living at your laptop is this:

You MUST have the right attitude to internet marketing!

One of the reasons I am writing this blog is to help others to avoid some of the pitfalls that I encountered along the way. But it is vital to understand that you may still find yourself tearing your hair out from time to time.

The key thing is to persist. When you have had a setback you simply have to accept it and move on. The internet forums are littered with tales of people bad-mouthing systems they paid good money for that made no return for them. Frankly, if they put half as much effort into their actual IM work as they do in sharing their grievances and complaining, they would probably be a lot more successful than they are.

It’s a fact of life, though, in any field of endeavour, that some succeed and some fail. That’s just the way of the world. But in my experience, many of the failures could have been successes if only they had the right frame of mind.

Determination
Positive Attitude
Self-Confidence
Persistence

These are the sorts of adjectives that describe most successful people, whether they are working online or in physical businesses. Your online business (for that is what it should be – a business) will depend almost entirely on your mental approach and very little on what you actually do. Whether you are seeking a second income to supplement a day job, a way out of a day job, or are completely broke and desperate, you will need the right frame of mind.

Consider this carefully before you start – I guarantee it WILL make a real difference to you.

And once you have steeled yourself, you can embark with confidence towards an unbelievably rewarding future.
